Happy BIrthday Shirley! (a little early)
A couple of years ago, my sister and I decided to have a "spend-the-night" party for mom's birthday. So, for the first time in 18 years (since my sister has been married) we both spent the night at "home". It was so much fun that we made it a tradition to do it every year. We always watch at least 4 movies. (This year we watched Becoming Jane, pretty good movie.) I always bring mini chocolate eclairs, creme puffs, and dibbs... Shannon brings supper We have so much fun! You should try it, you are never too old for a sleep over!
Obviously since I am in it, I probably didn't take this picture... although I have so don't put it past me. However, thank you to Dad for his wonderful picture skills.

President Bush Out Of Touch?

These words of Neil Cavuto sum up how I feel about a man who has
served his country well.
Please pass along as you deem appropriate. Dave
Ripped For Being Out of Touch, He Chose Just the Right Touch
Wednesday, November 05, 2008
He was classy. Magnanimous. A gentleman.
Ripped for being out of touch, he chose just the right touch.
A man who critics say only mangled his words. Conjured just the right
ones.
I'm not talking about John McCain yesterday.
I'm talking about President Bush today.
McCain gave a classy speech. The president made a classy gesture.
Offering only good words for the man who repudiated his run of the
White House.
But going one better -- inviting Barack and Michelle Obama to the
White House. To see the place, and talk about the place, and the pressures of the
place, in private.
These were not empty words. The president took care months ago to put a
transition team in place, so that a smooth transfer of power could take place.
President Bush wasn't so lucky when he was coming in.
Maybe things were different then. A lot of ill will then. Lots of
hurtful words since then.
He wasn't even running this year but it seemed everyone, including his
own party's nominee, was running against him all year.
If he minded, he didn't show it. I remember even talking to the
president on the White House south lawn about it.
"Does it all bug you?," I asked.
"Nah," he said, shrugging his shoulders and adding simply, "I
understand."
A man at peace with a nation seemingly at war* with him. Some for good
reason, others apparently lacking reason. He took nothing personally, always handling himself with dignity. Not by what he said, but precisely what he did not.
I've read that the president is as kind to the elevator operator at the
White House as he is a visiting head of state to the White House.
I've seen it myself. Every time I've interviewed him, he sticks around
and personally shakes the hands of each member of my crew, and then hangs out for
pictures.
Lots of pictures.
I know, little things. But to me, big things. That bespeak of a man far
bigger than the petty things I see in the press. Or hear in a harsh campaign year.
From a president who'd be in his right to wag a finger.
But instead, simply offered his hand.

Fall Photo Fun
I love fall, when all of the leaves are changing... It is so pretty, God is such a good artist. I firmly believe that "All of Nature reflects the Nature of God."
Also I want to say hello to my newest follower, Carolyn, over at Mom Interceding. I love putting a face to the feedjit locations. I check it, and often can see when a location pops up repeatedly. But it is just not the same as having an actual person to say hi to. So I said all of that to say
"Hi Carolyn... thanks for reading!"

What a Poppy Cock...
Three Glass Shelves
God is so awesome; He gives us things we don’t even need, just special things because He loves us so much.
Poppie worked at the same place for 30 years. They rewarded his faithfulness by giving him a six-foot tall grandfather clock with a curio cabinet in it. Inside the curio cabinet were three glass shelves.
When he passed away, he left this beautiful clock to us. So, of course, we treasured it, and when we decided to move from
The glass shelves were one of the last things I packed. I wasn’t sure how to best protect them. I was afraid that if I put them in a box that it could be thrown around causing them to break. Finally, at the last moment, I wrapped them in some foam sheets and placed them in a clothes basket in the back of the truck. I thought... We won’t open the truck again until we get to
To make a very long story shorter, five days, three trucks, two trans-loads (a trans- load is when you transfer the contents of one truck to another), and an empty gas tank later, we arrived in
Unfortunately, we had “help” with our first trans-load, and they weren’t very careful with our stuff. Someone grabbed the foam thinking it was just extra and tossed it. It shattered my shelves. I was so sad. I personally cleaned up all of the little pieces. Nevertheless, we did not lose our witness; we were nice. Through it all, the entire nightmare, we kept a good attitude.
When we finally got to
When we got to the last box to unpack, Que reached in and pulled out something wrapped in foam, then he turned white as a ghost and yelled, “DaNella, you have got to come see this!”
When he un-wrapped it, we both had to sit down. Neither one of us had put them in a box, and both of us had picked up the tiny glass pieces; yet, there in the box, wrapped in foam, God had placed, for us, three glass shelves.
Keep in mind that the LORD your God is the only God. He is a faithful God, who keeps his promise and is merciful to thousands of generations of those who love him and obey his commands.
