I love Christmas time! I collect Nativities. Every year at Christmas time I put away all of my nick knacks and replace them all with nativities. I have about 20 of them. Every year, the children each want to set up a nativity. It just blesses my heart. I love knowing I am teaching her the true meaning of Christmas.

What kind of traditions do you have that you have passed down to your children? Specifically things to do with your religion. If you read this, please take the time to comment, I need it for a research paper I am doing in Biology on why parents feel a need to teach their children about their faith.
Thanks Bloggies I know you will help me!

My Julianna loves putting up the nativities too! You can see her playing with the unbreakable one at almost any point during the Christmas season.
Traditions...well, we used to have a birthday party for Jesus each year...but we didn't this last one...I guess we need to NOT skip it this year.
And then there's Advent. Let me think some more and I'll get back to you. I think I'm getting sick, so my brain's all foggy. ;(
I'm new here, what a great blog :) ♥ Hugs!
Three favorite traditions
1 - we always incorporate giving to someone else into our holiday - just as God gave Jesus to us. One year the kids put together a yard sale to buy gifts for the migrant workers' children, another year we brought gifts to a needy family in the community, another year we baked cookies for the elderly - the project varies but the purpose is the same.
2 - Rather than buy gifts for each other, we pool the budget and invest in a family memory. This may not be "religious" per se, but God believes in families. And I believe that valuing that time puts things in order a lot better than a gazillion lectures. Also, when the kids look back, it won't be the plastic toys they remember anyway - we invest in memories that will shape how they see the world and how they teach their children someday.
3 - We carol together. A lost art. It's amazing how many people you can touch this way - they won't open the door for witnessing but we've never had someone turn away caroling.
