Burning the Qur'an

(fire from a meal at Mizu, I just liked the fire pic, looks like a phoenix...)

This is an "Assemblies of God special announcement."

"Assemblies of God denounces burning of Qur'an In what has become a national furor, a small non-denominational church, Dove World Outreach Center, in Gainesville, Florida, has announced plans to burn copies of the Qur'an on Saturday, September 11 — the anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks. As the church has reportedly made claims of Pentecostalism, the Assemblies of God — the overall ninth largest denomination in the United States and one of the largest Pentecostal denominations in the United States — has made it clear it has no ties with the church and has publicly objected to the burning. "I don't believe that [burning the Qur'an] is respectful toward the very people we want to love into the Kingdom," states AG General Superintendent George O. Wood. "It only drives Muslims farther away from the Lord Jesus and reinforces the false notion that followers of Jesus are crusaders from the Middle Ages." General David Patraeus, the American commander in Afghanistan, and President Barack Obama have both voiced their strong objections to the planned burning — saying that it will put the lives of American soldiers at risk and be used as a recruitment tool for Al Qaeda. Numerous church and religious leaders have also condemned the burning. However, Terry Jones, the pastor and founder of Dove World Outreach Center, has indicated the burning will still take place. "Such actions as these only make it more difficult to effectively witness to Muslims," Wood says. "Our focus should be on sharing the amazing love of God that brought Jesus into this world to die for our sins — not engaging in activities that only drive people farther away from Christ." --AG News"
Having said all of that, how do you feel?
Do you think it is wrong?
What about people burning bibles?
Should we just 'turn the other cheek?'

Here's what I am!

A rock! My niece Becka Bean guessed it right away, I just didn't let her comment show!

What am I?

I love these... soooo much fun... Little things amuse small minds... Little things and a good camera that is...

Update on the twins.

The twins are still in foster care, but are a few steps closer to being up for adoption. I can't say much, and I can't post "recognizable" pictures of them online, so I made this one 'unrecognizable'... However, you can still tell from his face he is having a ball running from his cousin Anny. They are a part of our family, keep praying they will be a part of our forever family.

DaNella Auten Photography, The Beginning

I have always loved photography, and getting my picture made. I always loved how the picture brought the memory right back to life. Like the time my sister and cousin made a beanbag sandwich out of me, I will never forget that... largely because my Uncle Jim took pictures. I played around with pictures some, and got some cute pics of my kids as they were growing, but I consider this my first 'pro' shot. I didn't really take it, but I set it up. We were at a walmart portrait studio, and I badgered the poor lady to death, 'do this, do that, put in this prop, take out that one...' However, she was so sweet, when I set up this shot, she said 'Wow, you need to be in photography, want a job?'
I was tempted, but at the time I didn't have to work, so I stayed at home with my kids. This was in 2002 or 2003 but I still look back on this as the first real picture of my career. It is Juliannah btw...

Joy Unspeakable!

(written several months ago)

Today at work was a day! I was glad it was only eight hours! I wasn’t sure it would ever end.,. Unfortunately I started off the day with a sinus tooth ache… It was almost as bad as a migraine. Nice huh? That alone was pretty bad, but then two people in my class kept arguing… loudly over the TV. They each wanted to watch their own show. At the same time…, with only one TV. Needless to say one or the other was constantly losing and protesting, loudly!

As if that were not enough, “it” chose today to hit. Yeah you ladies know exactly what I mean, that lovely monthly thing some call “Happy Time…” I was not happy!

I began to wonder “Is this day over yet? “The answer to that came in a beautiful rainbow of wax cylinders flying thru the air and landing all over the floor in my room…Yep you guessed it, someone spilled our huge box of crayons all over the floor.

Finally as the day was winding down, I had peace that I had indeed survived. As I was doing one of my last duties, helping load the busses for the trip home, one of the drivers asked me “How are you doing?”

Since I knew he was a Christian, and I knew he would understand, I said, “If I only had happiness, and didn’t have joy, I would have had a bad day! My happiness left long ago, but it left joy in its wake.”

He just kind of laughed and said, “Yeah sometimes it’s joy unspeakable huh?”

I’m not totally sure how he meant it, but I’ll tell you how I took it, Sometimes the joy that God gives, joy in the midst of struggles, joy when the world is in turmoil, joy at unexpected moments, that joy that makes absolutely no since shouldn’t even be there.

That is Joy unspeakable!

Although you have never seen Christ, you love him. You don't see him now, but you believe in him. You are extremely happy with joy and praise that can hardly be expressed in words

I am not gonna defend myself.

A funny thing happened on my way to this blog post... lol Wednesday night church, I was talking with my pastor, Mark, and I mentioned how hard it is not to defend ourselves. If someone accuses us, we want to "set them straight." Then an even funnier thing happened... I got fired. No, I don't feel like I deserved it, but we never do...

Here is what A. W. Tozer says..."Never defend yourself. We're all born with a desire to defend ourselves. And if you insist upon defending yourself, God will let you do it. But if you turn the defense of yourself over to God He will defend you. He told Moses once, in Exodus 23:22: “I will be an enemy unto thine enemies and an adversary to thine adversaries.”
A long time ago the Lord and I went through the 23rd chapter of Exodus together and He gave it to me. For 30 years now it has been a source of untold blessing to my life. I don't have to fight. The Lord does the fighting for me. And He'll do the same for you. He will be an enemy to your enemy and an adversary to your adversary, and you'll never need to defend yourself."

It was a fun place to work while it lasted... Thanks for the memories Mitchell Center.

So, Pray for me, I need a new job.
